EU Privacy Regulator Creates New ChatGPT Task Force

On Thursday, the organization that connects Europe’s national privacy regulators announced that they established a task force to address ChatGPT. This could be a significant initial move towards a unified approach to creating privacy regulations for artificial intelligence.

The European Data Protection Board has decided to investigate ChatGPT following Italy’s recent decision to regulate it. Germany’s data protection commissioner has suggested that other European countries may follow suit. Spain’s AEPD watchdog has also announced a preliminary investigation into possible data breaches by ChatGPT.

Chat GPT is an AI program that has gained popularity due to its quick response time to various queries. It has become the fastest-growing consumer application in history, with over 100 million monthly active users. However, concerns have been raised regarding its potential threats to safety, privacy, and job security.

Concerns have been raised by experts, the US government, and various European governments regarding the quick adoption of ChatGPT and comparable AI products.

The EDPB members addressed the enforcement action taken by the Italian data protection authority against OpenAI regarding the Chat GPT service, according to the statement.
